When your ears are overly large, protruding, or oddly-shaped, it will affect your confidence and quality of life. Ear surgery can be performed on children, teenagers, and adults, and involves restructuring the ear cartilage, so the ears look normal, natural, and lie flat against the skull. When protruding ears are treated surgically, called “otoplasty” or “ear pinning,” it improves your entire life – no more worries about your ears – they look perfect.

Otoplasty, or ear pinning
This procedure involves removing the excess cartilage that causes the ears to protrude. It is usually performed at our state-of-the-art, accredited private surgery center, where we have the most advanced patient health and safety standards. Adults typically undergo the procedure with local anesthesia and sedation, while young children are under general, so they do not suffer any fear or upset while their ears are corrected. The surgery takes about two to three hours to complete. For ears with a shell shape, it may be necessary to create a natural-looking fold in the ear, and the surgery may take slightly longer.
Your earlobes can be damaged by trauma or when piercings rip. Some people, when younger, chose to have gauged earrings, with larger holes, and now that they are older, they want to return to the natural look. Dr. Paul Leong performs custom earlobe repair surgeries. If your earlobes are ripped, overly large, or uneven in size – any cosmetic problem – Dr. Leong can restore them to a very natural look with earlobe repair surgery.
